Block55 – Viral Reward Campaign for a Book Launch

1The Challenge
The novel „Block55" is an autobiography set in 2049, in which David Wenkart describes how the ccoin blockchain came into being – a fictional cryptocurrency that, in the story, strips nation states of power and radically reshapes society.
The brief was unusually concrete: measurably increase book sales without copying classic publisher marketing. The requirements:
- Excite the audience rather than just reach it
- Systematically trigger word-of-mouth in social media
- Reward mechanics attractive to tech-savvy readers
- A dedicated website as the central hub for book promotion and campaign
- A brand world matching the novel's dystopian, speculative tone
2Our Solution
We built a dedicated campaign website centered around a viral reward mechanic: those who shared the link on their social networks collected points – redeemable for a signed copy of the book.
The mechanic taps into a simple but powerful logic from the tech and crypto world: reach becomes currency. A perfect fit for the book's plot.
Visually, we created a standalone brand world balancing book cover, blockchain aesthetic, and pop sensibility – carried by a clear visual language across all print and web touchpoints.
